These acrylic paintings and pastels were done during a tour of the North and South Islands of New Zealand between January and March 2014. I tried to capture the drama and changing beauty of this stunning country.

A beautiful lake not far from Hokitika on the west coast of the south island. Acrylic on paper 600mm x 420mm

The ferries from Picton on the south island to Wellington on the north island start their journey through Queen Charlotte Sound. Acrylic & Charcoal on paper 600mm x 420mm

A short walk through the Te Maire Reserve on the north island brought me to this quite little spot with a shallow stream flowing through the bush. Acrylic on paper 600mm x 420mm

This area of craggy rocks is a mysterious place to wander around. It was used for some scenes for the Chronicles of Narnia film. I have done a number of paintings here, everywhere you turn there is another picture waiting. Acrylic on paper 600mm x 420mm

From this point on beautiful Lake Hawea you can see through to the Southern Alps and Mt. Cook National Park. Acrylic on paper 600mm x 420mm

I was lucky to see all of Mt. Taranaki on one occasion, here the top third is shrouded in cloud. Acrylic on paper 600mm x 420mm.
