In December 2013 I returned to the Philippines for a very short stay before beginning my tour of New Zealand. I was able to do these four charcoal and compressed charcol drawings of the settlement where many of my Filipino relatives live, whilst I was there. The contrasts found in the forest with the sun filtering through lend themselves to black and white.
